Prerequisites:

Because of the Web-based method of training, a number of technical prerequisites are required before a student can maximally benefit from participation in the course, although none of these will be formal requirements for registration. We currently see these as:

• Access to a PC/Mac
  • Web browser (Mosaic/Netscape)
  • Rasmol / MAGE installed
  • Use of a text editor (e.g. Write, Word, WordPerfect, etc.)
  • Internet connection / local webserver
• Access to an SGI workstation
  • Web browser (Mosaic/Netscape)

  • Molecular graphics software (e.g. QUANTA, SYBYL, Insight, others)
  • ~50MB local disk space
  • External e-mail account
  • Access to usenet newsgroups
  • Access to molecular databases (PDB, SWISSPROT)

We will tailor most of the material for study on PC type architectures, with the SG used for more detailed modelling and display excercises.

It will be possible to download the course material to an internal web server, if a particular organisation does not have a full repertoire of Internet facilities.
