IMP 2.2.0 building: Syntax (?) errors when running `make`
Dear all,
when compiling IMP 2.2.0 (on CentOS 5), `make` exits with the following errors:

The previous `cmake` had run sccessfully (not all modules were found, though). You can find the complete `cmake` output at the end of this post.
Any idea how this problem can be tracked down?

Does your issue go away if you open base/include/compiler_macros.h and change this line #if defined(BOOST_NO_CXX11_RANGE_BASED_FOR) || BOOST_VERSION <= 104100 to read #if defined(BOOST_NO_CXX11_RANGE_BASED_FOR) || BOOST_VERSION < 105300 ? Looks like we got the Boost version where they introduced BOOST_NO_CXX11_RANGE_BASED_FOR wrong. It works on our CentOS 5 machine because we use Boost from EPEL which is 1.41, but you're using a newer version (but not new enough to include that macro).

Looks like the exact same problem, just in RMF rather than IMP this time. The fix should be the same, in modules/rmf/dependency/RMF_source/include/RMF/infrastructure_macros.h.

...and now I end up with an incompatible version of swig:

Locally there is swig 1.3.29 installed, which `cmake` happily accepted ;-). I can either switch to an externally built swig 2.0.4 (which supports "-Wextra") or patch the code once more (what and where?). What would you suggest?

The minimum supported version is 1.3.40. I'm not sure why cmake didn't check for that before - now fixed in git.

How do you solve this on your RH5_64 test system (http://integrativemodeling.org/nightly/results/)? There is no newer swig than 1.3.29 from the standard repos or from EPEL for RHEL/CentOS 5. Is there a description of the test systems somewhere?
And yes: When pointing PATH to the newer swig version, the compilation runs through w/o errors.
Thanks a lot for your help Frank

Right, we had to build our own. See tools/rpm/IMP.spec.in.
BTW, while RedHat may have committed to supporting RHEL 5 until 2017, it's entirely possible that we'll drop support for it before then - or at least, require a bunch of upgraded packages (e.g. python 2.6 rather than the 2.4 that ships with RHEL 5).

Mousing over the column headers at that URL above gives a brief description of each one.

No problem. I still build on CentOS 5 for maximum backwards compatibility, but our workstations are gradually being migrated to CentOS 6.
Thanks again for all your help frank
