error in running mod

I installed the modeller4 on r10000, IRIX 6.3. The executable program I copied was mod_r10000-IRIX6.2 and installed everything according to the manual. When I run the program I always got this error message: /usr/people/kevan/bin/mod_r10000: Syntax error at line 1: `(' unexpected. I used the input files from the example. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?
