Occasionally it is useful to make your script aware of the architecture on which it is being run, e.g. allowing it to take advantage of all node types by compiling some elements on-the-fly. One way of accomplishing this is by peeking in the file /proc/cpuinfo. The field "model name" will give the processor type. To facilitate parsing, each CPU type's verbatim model name is listed below:

Model name

AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6174

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650 @ 2.67GHz

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5345 @ 2.33GHz

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5430 @ 2.66GHz

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5520 @ 2.27GHz

AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 242

Dual Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 275

Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.60GHz

Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.60GHz

Please see the Cluster_Usage page for information on how to submit jobs to the nodes, and on SGE resources.
